Charlie Gschwend

Converse hadn’t advertised in years.
Still, creative types were avidly wearing Chuck Taylors.
It had become a part of who they are.
So instead of doing a traditional campaign
We gave the brand back to them.

We invited them to create the “advertising” themselves on a website.

We asked them to make and submit short films.

We made some movie posters to promote them.

But we went back to them to create the OOH and print.

And print…

For those with no access to paint
We included it in the ad itself.

It was one of the first user-generated campaigns
Rolling out two years before YouTube existed.
You’re welcome, Doritos.
